Heather and Matt bought Casa Pace e Gioia in 2018.  Heather is a writer and photographer.  Matt sells electronic components.

The previous owners are a lovely British couple. They restored the ruins of three walls and a half of a roof between 2007 and 2009. We had seen an advertisement for this house in a magazine and arranged to visit Le Marche for the first time to look at it in February, 2018. By May, it was ours. We cleaned up the property, made some changes, added the pool, the garden areas, and built the casetta.

We live in Florida, USA but our caretaker lives just down the road, speaks English, Italian, German, and some Spanish, and is available for anything you might need onsite. Heather is available by phone, sms, whatsapp, skype, and email and can help you plan a fabulous holiday, from making suggestions and reservations to arranging day trips or special events. We love to share our favorite place in the world.

Le Marche is incredible.  It is coastal and mountainous with an agricultural plain in between.  The scenery is breathtaking and the food is fantastic.  With all that going for it, it is the people of Le Marche that make it feel like home to us.  We hope that you will have as much fun as we do in Le Marche.

Like any farm, Casa Pace e Gioia requires a lot of work.  In the picture, Heather is pruning one of the olive trees on the property. Our trees produce about 300 liters of extra virgin olive oil per year.

Along with the olives, there are white and red grape vines on the farm.  The white grapes are Trebbiano, the red are Sangiovese.  Depending on the year and the harvest the local winery has used our grapes to make some of their wines.

Matt is mending the old barn in this picture.  Sadly that barn had to be torn down to build the new pool building.  Okay, not all that sad :)

Over 20 truckloads of earth were brought onto the property to level off the hillside and create the garden.  The stones used on the facade of the pool house were taken from the ruin just west of the farmhouse.
